This research project investigates the Spomenik monuments built across the former Yugoslavia during the mid-20th century. These sculptural concrete structures were constructed to commemorate events of World War II and became powerful symbols of collective memory and national identity. The research examines the architectural language, geometric abstraction, and spatial presence of these monuments, analyzing how they merge sculpture, landscape, and ideology. Through drawings, diagrams, and visual documentation, the project explores how these monumental forms continue to influence contemporary architectural thinking and experimental design.
